My Approach

I am a therapist and coach who truly loves what I do.  I love people.  I love connecting with others in meaningful ways.  I love walking with people along their journeys towards healing and transformation.  I am humbled to bear witness to their stories, and honoured to be present to the most intimate parts of their lives.

Psychotherapy is a unique journey. It is a time and space to reflect on upon things with someone who is truly listening.  As a Holistic Psychotherapist, I will hold a safe space for the emotions you are experiencing while working together with you to navigate through challenging obstacles.

Meaningful change and healing comes from deep within, but you aren’t expected to do it alone. Together, we will dive deep, explore old wounds, discover what is important to you, and help you take the steps towards living from a place of resiliency, authenticity, and valued-living.  I truly believe in your own innate ability to heal, resolve issues, and move forward towards the life you really want to live!

I value the therapeutic relationship and truly believe in its ability to heal.  The foundation for change begins with a warm, safe, accepting, non-judgemental, and empathetic environment and I am committed to providing that to you in all of our time together. My commitment to you is that you feel respected, valued, and truly heard in the time we spend together.

My approach to psychotherapy is one rooted in compassion, empathy, and validation. My practice is client-centred, meaning, I “meet you” where you are at and we talk about the issues important to you and you decide the goals we will work on together. I am interested in your strengths and hopes for the future.

I wholeheartedly believe in a holistic approach to life, and my psychotherapy practice is rooted in this same value. I focus on the thoughts, feelings, behaviours, environment, AND the human spirit! Some of our most profound answers and solutions rest in our spirit. My practice is eclectic, in that, I draw upon a variety of therapies and modalities to meet your unique needs.  Much of my practice is focused on integrating both the wisdom of Eastern philosophy and the science of Western psychology.  I combine psychologically savvy tools + holistic and spiritual practices in order to create a truly holistic approach to healing and transformation!

 

Some of the psychological therapies I draw upon are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), emotional release techniques, trauma-informed practices, gestalt therapy, nature and outdoor based experiential therapy, conscious dance therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches. I also integrate mind-body and somatic approaches during therapy, as the body is an invaluable source of wisdom. As a registered yoga instructor, I often fuse yoga, breathing techniques, relaxation exercises, and meditation into sessions depending on your needs and goals.

We will work together in a supportive environment and begin to navigate through difficult emotions and situations, build the skills that will support you in facing challenging obstacles, and find solutions. My goal is to help you arrive at a place where your pain will no longer direct and control your life path. I will help guide you to discover what is important to you so you can take steps towards the live you truly want and deserve to live. We will draw upon your inner strengths and the wisdom of your spirit to make these changes exciting. It may not always be easy, and, I am with you every step of the way.

I offer one-on-one in person or online counselling and coaching sessions so that you aren’t alone in dealing with your current challenges and you have a cheerleader and guide by your side as we find your own unique way through healing.

Counselling can ease pain and suffering AND promote self-growth and healing.  People come to me when they experience life challenges or difficult transitions and want to find real lasting solutions.

Individual counselling and coaching is a place to reflect upon the things most important to you and provides a safe space to feel your true emotions.  During this time you will learn how to navigate through difficult feelings and learn the skills to support you in managing obstacles.  You will find solutions and discover your values so you can live the life you truly want and deserve.

I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to discuss your needs and goals and to determine if we would be an appropriate fit for working together.

Rates & Insurance

 

My rates include the session cost and HST/GST. A 60 minute in-person session is $135 and online sessions are $120.

 

I offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation in order to answer any questions you may have and to help determine whether your needs fall within my scope of practice and expertise. A free consultation is your opportunity to explore the possibilities and potential benefits of working together through a personalized and multi-disciplined approach to personal wellness. Consultations are safe, supportive, and confidential.

Extended Health and Insurance Plans

As a Registered Social Worker (RSW), many extended health and insurance providers cover my rates.  Check with your extended health or insurance provider to see if you are eligible for coverage.   If eligible for coverage, payment for sessions is made by you.  After the session, I will provide you with a receipt that has all the information you need to receive reimbursement from your extended health or insurance provider for the session.  

Payment Policy

Appointments are made on a fee-for-service basis. Payment is due at the beginning of each session by cash or email money transfer. If you prefer, you may also pay prior to the session through email money transfer as well which is available through online banking with your financial institution. Receipts are sent out electronically to an email address of your choosing.

Cancellations and Missed Sessions

I require 48 hours notice for cancellations in order to offer your spot to another client. If you do not provide me with 48 hours notice, you will be billed for your session.
