I’m Laurita Gorman
For much of my life, I have been curious and intrigued by the human condition and the inherent resiliency of the human spirit through pain and difficult life experiences. I have dedicated my life to learning about the deep connections between the mind and the body, and I have discovered some incredible tools and wisdom along the way.
I am a Holistic Psychotherapist, Embodiment Coach, Storyteller, international speaker, and writer. I am here to help you transform your life from a place of pain and suffering, to a journey of healing and growth, so you can live your best life and make meaningful impact in the world. With compassion and empathy, and through a unique blend of psychology + holistic and spiritual practices, I can help you discover what matters most to you and assist you in taking action steps towards those values so you can create the life you love, now!
I am on a mission to help people around the globe discover emotional freedom, cultivate personal empowerment, and achieve their highest potential. I believe we all have the strength and courage to navigate through difficult and painful life experiences while still living a meaningful life rooted in our values and fueled by our passions. We all have a story, yes even you – stories of pain, suffering, and defeat, and I believe each and every one deserves to be heard and has a dose of wisdom to be shared that can inspire the world.

I know, because I have been there and I have my own story of pain and suffering.
Let me share my story…
I know what it means to be a survivor of trauma. I know the pain of unbearable depression and hopelessness. I know the fear and terror of experiencing crippling anxiety. I know the feeling of feeling lost and alone. I know the sense of disconnection, from myself and others. Years ago, I was struggling with debilitating emotional pain, was fearful of the future, and lacked direction in my life.
What I discovered was that in order to find healing, create meaningful changes, and develop the skills necessary to ride the waves of pain and suffering, I needed to dive deep, step out of my comfort zone, and get to know the real me! I embarked on my own healing journey using a combination of counselling and coaching, holistic practices, and travel experiences!
After connecting with a counsellor I felt safe with, getting to the core of my issues, and working through them together as a team, I started to cleanse myself of old painful wounds and limiting beliefs. I finally discovered the meaning behind my pain and suffering. I began to learn how to navigate through difficult emotions and life experiences more effectively, which helped me to respond more positively to situations in my life. I finally stepped up to my worth and went after my dreams with a new sense of hope, confidence, and excitement!

I will support you in learning the skills to help ride the waves of life and guide you to connect to your soul, that inner compass of yours. I have over ten years of experience working in the mental health field and have also worked in a variety of areas including child welfare, crisis intervention, abuse and domestic violence, and within settings such as homeless shelters, residential treatment homes, schools, and hospitals. I have completed extensive clinical, psychological, and personal development training and have experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MBCT), Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), Hypnosis, Somatic Pyschology, and Trauma Informed Therapy/Practices.
I have completed extensive research in the field of spirituality and mental health and received the Gerry Erikson Practice-Based Research Paper Prize. I have developed and taught mental health workshops in hundreds of schools throughout Canada and developed more comprehensive programs to serve at-risk youth. I have also designed and facilitated workshops and have been a public speaker at national and international conferences to a variety of professionals and organizations. My writing and articles have also been published on platforms such as The Huffington Post, Elephant Journal, Thought Catelog, and Positively Positive. I am a pioneer in bridging the gap between holistic practices and mental health and have spearheaded several specialized programs in practice settings within various agencies. In addition, I have developed and organized campaigns and fundraising initiatives/events to support non-profit organizations and to increase mental health education, and services.
In addition to being trained in various psychological therapies and modalities, I am a certified yoga instructor and often integrate yoga postures and breathing techniques into my psychotherapy practice. I have also received certifications and training in a variety of holistic modalities including energy work, quantum healing, hypnosis, meditation, and trauma sensitive yoga, to name a few. In my practice, I blend together my expertise in psychological therapies and holistic modalities to create a unique therapeutic experience for each individual.
